SAP Go hopes de Castro will bring back ‘prestige’ in SC

MANILA — Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go expressed hope that newly-appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro will bring back prestige to the highest court in the land.

“She is very competent, with her track record sa judiciary, sa gobyerno, napakalawak, may integrity, and I hope she brings back the prestige of the Supreme Court (She has a very good track record in the judiciary, in government she has integrity, and I hope she brings back the prestige of the Supreme Court),” Go said in an interview.

De Castro replaces ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, whose appointment became void when the Supreme Court en banc voted in favor of the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida.

De Castro will serve as top magistrate for less than two months since she will be retiring on October 8.

Hayaan na lang po natin bigyan ng panahon ang ating Chief Justice na si Teresita de Castro na mamuno sa Supreme Court. Sa kanya binigay ng ating Pangulo ang tiwala. Bigyan natin ng pagkakataon, at kayang-kaya niya mamuno ng judiciary at ibalik ang prestige ng Supreme Court (Let us give her the chance to lead the Supreme Court. The President gave her his trust. She is more than able to lead the judiciary and bring back the prestige of the Supreme Court),” Go said. (OSAP PR/PNA)
