SAP Go not closing doors on possible Senate run

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Sunday reiterated here for the nth time that he is not interested in running for senator, but is not closing doors for possibilities amid rising public clamor.

Go was the special guest here Sunday for North Cotabato province’s 104th founding anniversary and the opening of the Kalivungan Festival held at the provincial capitol grounds in Barangay Amas.

Go said he was already included on the initial list of “senatoriables” under President Rodrigo Duterte’s party but reiterated he is not interested in a Senate seat “because I am happy with my job as special assistant to the President.”

He quickly added though that “only President Duterte can convince me to change my heart and run for a Senate seat because he knew pretty well where I can be of help.”

“I will follow the wisdom of the President,” he added.

Reacting to critics who say he does not possess qualities of a senator and that he is incompetent to become one, Go said: “This is a democracy, my critics can run for any public office as much as I can run for any position I desire.”

“Let the people judge, if ever,” Go said, still keeping a lid on whether he is pursuing a Senate seat or not. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
