Village chief shot dead in Bulacan

CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan — A barangay (village) chairman was shot dead in front of a barangay hall here Friday night.

San Jose del Monte City police chief Supt. Fitz Macariola identified the victim as Barangay San Rafael II chairman, Deogracias Milallos, 58.

“The victim was in front of the barangay hall when shot by an unidentified armed suspect several times in different parts of his body. He was rushed to the nearest hospital but pronounced dead later,” Macariola said.

The victim was reportedly talking with other village officials – identified as Edelito de Mesa, Ricardo de Castro, and Elmerito Atanacio – when he was attacked.

Milallos was the third barangay chairman to be killed in the province this year.

Genaro Lopez, barangay chief of Labne, San Miguel, Bulacan was shot dead on May 25, 2018 by his motorcycle-riding assailants in front of a restaurant in Barangay Mojon, Malolos City.

On the other hand, village chairman Rodrigo Rodriguez of Mabalasbalas, San Rafael, Bulacan, was also killed in broad daylight on April 26, 2018 by riding-in-tandem gunmen. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
