Ozamiz mayor, 4 others killed in police, CIDG raid

DAVAO CITY, July 30 — Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and four still unidentified persons were killed in a joint raid conducted by operatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 10 in their residence in San Roque Lawis in the city on Sunday morning.

Reynaldo’s daughter Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, meanwhile, was arrested during the raid.

In a media statement, Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 Director Chief Superintendent Tim Pacleg confirmed the death of Parojinog and the arrest of his vice mayor-daughter during the implementation of six search warrants issued for the two of them.

Also included in the search warrants were Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. and Board Member Ricardo Parojinog in relation to hard drugs.

According to Pacleg, the operatives were met with volley of fire, prompting them to return fire.

As of posting time, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) personnel are still conducting seizure and inventory of illegal items found in their residence and farm. (PNA)
