Hiyas Pilipinas rules UA girls 3×3 tourney, Singapore wins men’s title

MANILA — Hiyas Pilipinas took home the women’s division championship in the Under Armour 3×3 Southeast Asia Tournament after beating Singapore in the finals at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, in the lead-up to the Stephen Curry Asia Tour on Friday.

Hiyas, consisting of Angel Surada, Princess Fabruada, Caila Galamiton, and Karl Ann Pingol, took advantage of Singapore’s errors to post a 14-6 wire-to-wire win.

On the other hand, a more improved Lavin Raj made a Philippine return to steer Singapore to a 16-9 win against Thailand in the men’s finals.

Raj, who played for the Singaporeans in the SEABA Men’s Championship last year in Quezon City, dropped a game-high 11 points as he quickly found his range and led Singapore to the victory, a bounce back from its preliminary defeat to Thailand earlier Friday.

Teams from Indonesia and Malaysia also participated in the tournament. ( Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
