DAVAO CITY — The power transmission services of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) remain normal despite the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that shook Davao on Saturday.
In a text message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Sunday, NGCP Southern Mindanao Regional Communications and Public Affairs Officer Mike O. Ligalig said the Mindanao grid remains intact despite the strong quake.
However, Ligalig said the Nabunturan-Asuncion 69kV Line and Bislig-Bagangga 69kV Line were experiencing five-minute and three-minute outages, respectively. That explained the power outage in Davao Oriental.
The 6.4 quake of tectonic origin shook Manay town in Davao Oriental at 3.16 p.m. on Saturday. Tremors were also felt in neighboring towns.
“But (there was) no report of damage (to) transmission facilities in Davao Oriental and nearby areas where the earthquake was felt,” Ligalig said. (Armando Fenequito, Jr./PNA)
