“Eight trains with a capacity of 850 would be fielded on the shuttle line and is expected to accommodate 7,000 passengers,” the Department of Transportation said in a statement.

The new railway line will extend the existing PNR Caloocan-dela Rosa line, which was opened last August 1.

The PNR Caloocan-dela Rosa line will be utilized for commuters going from Caloocan to Makati and vice versa, as the PNR pursues the construction of the North-South Commuter Line or the PNR North 1, connecting Tutuban to Malolos.

This was shut down during the the late 90’s to early 2000’s to pave the way for the construction of the Northrail project, which was envisioned to connect Metro Manila to Malolos, Bulacan and Clark, Pampanga. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
