Cavite museum tells how to process historical data

KAWIT, Cavite – Processing history research has become a challenge these days as events from past decades, including the so-called untold forgotten important parts of the nation’s history, are being re-told in technology-savvy form or presented with cinematic approach.

To address this, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), through two of its Cavite Cluster museums, Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo (MEA) and Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo (MBA), has organized a lecture on information literacy and basic historical method at the MBA multi-purpose hall on Sept 28.

MBA curator Ahzel Miral disclosed Wednesday that the lecture is in support of the NHCP vision of a Filipino society, where citizens informed of their history, and its thrust to capacitate the youth on the basic skills in learning and researching history.

“With the current trend of empowering people to take the task of knowing the history of their community and the nation, the lecture will enable participants to gain basic skills in learning and researching history,” Miral said.

She said the 2 p.m. lecture to be delivered by NHCP Senior History Researcher Ian Christopher B. Alfonso will enable students to recognize and process valuable historical information effectively.

The museum has pre-arranged some 40 college students within Cavite for this scheduled lecture but interested parties may also call +6346.434.5983 for reserved slots.

MBA is located at this town’s Binakayan village and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

Admission to the museum and the Sept. 28 lecture is free. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
