Malacañang condemns GenSan blast

MANILA – Malacañang on Sunday strongly condemned the explosion in General Santos City that left at least seven people hurt.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms today’s explosion that hit General Santos City which left scores of people injured,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

The explosion in the southernmost part of the country took place before noon while President Rodrigo Duterte was inspecting the damage of Typhoon “Ompong” in northern Luzon particularly in Tuguegarao City.

“This comes at an unfortunate time when the nation is reeling from the effects of Ompong,” Roque said.

Roque said authorities are now conducting an investigation, and “vowed to bring the perpetrators of this brazen attack to justice.”

According to media reports, police investigators are now verifying reports that two people on board a motorcycle dropped off a bag near the area before the explostion happened. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
