‘Ompong’ affected families reach 411K

MANILA — The number of families affected by Typhoon Ompong has risen to 411,235 or about 1,727,771 persons in 4,605 barangays in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Cordillera and the National Capital Region.

In its 6 a.m. report released on Saturday, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad said “Ompong” wrecked 4,150 houses and partially damaged 50,064 others in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the Cordillera region.

He also placed infrastructure and agricultural damage at PHP17.97 billion, broken down into PHP3.63 billion for infrastructure and PHP14.34 billion for agriculture.

Damages are confined to the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol and the Cordillera regions. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
