Typhoon ‘Paeng’ weakens; slowly moves north

MANILA—Typhoon “Paeng” has slightly weakened on Wednesday as it continues to move north at a slow pace.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Paeng” was last observed at 725 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. Its wind intensity is 170 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.

It may bring light to at times moderate rain over northern Luzon and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sept. 29).

The weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25-33 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-33 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 15-24 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 25-32 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-33 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 24-33 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
