‘Paeng’ continues to move slowly to north; might exit PAR Saturday

MANILA — Typhoon Paeng continues to move slowly to the north, and might exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, the weather bureau said.

“Paeng” was last located 735 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes. The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 195 km/h.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm over Zamboanga Peninsula, northern Mindanao, Palawan, Mindoro, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi until Friday afternoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Strong to gale force winds will blow over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
