8 of 15 killed in Ozamiz raid test positive for gunpowder

MANILA, Aug. 3 — Eight out of the 15 persons killed in the bloody anti-drug raid in Ozamiz City last July 30 were found positive for gunpowder nitrates in the PNP Region 10 Crime Laboratory paraffin test.

This was bared by PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Thursday.

He added that slain Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog was among the eight who was found positive for gunpowder nitrates.

This is indicative that these individuals have fired a weapon or have a gun near them at the time of the incident.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier tagged the late mayor as one of the country’s drug lords and narco-politicians.

Carlos said that he does not have the names of the other seven as of this time.

Initial autopsy reports also indicated that the elder Parojinog sustained two gunshot wounds in the face and chest, killing him instantly.

While his wife, Susan, and siblings Mona and Octavio, were killed by blast injuries, autopsy reports by the PNP Region 10 Crime Laboratory said.

Aside from the four Parojinogs, four other security men or household helps were autopsied but the PNP spokesperson did not have specifics on the injuries which caused their deaths.

While the families of the remaining seven opted to waive their rights for an autopsy.

Carlos said these information will be consolidated by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group who will then give the final report on the operation. (Priam F. Nepomuceno/Kathryn Villamayor (OJT)/PNA)
