GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 12 (Soccsksargen) yielded negative for illegal drugs use, in a surprise mandatory test on Monday.
Naravy Duquiatan, PDEA-12 acting director, said test results released on Tuesday morning showed all 89 agents, administrative and technical employees of the agency are considered clean of any illegal substance.
The official led the conduct of the drug test to all PDEA-12 personnel during a meeting at the regional office here.
All personnel submitted urine samples for tests administered by the agency’s regional laboratory.
“This is to show to everyone that we should be free from the use of illegal substances being the lead agency in fighting illegal drugs,” she said. It is also part of their commitment to PDEA’s continuing intensified internal cleansing program, she added.
PDEA conducts periodic mandatory surprise drug test among its personnel to cleanse its ranks of possible rogue agents and other employees, she said.
She said they also conduct stringent evaluation and verification processes in the recruitment of new agents, as well as technical and administrative personnel.
Duquiatan said the move is in line with the national government’s thrust to ensure that all its offices or work places remain “drug-free” and in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s continuing “war against illegal drugs.” (Anna liza Cabrido/PNA)
