Duterte appoints Hernando as SC associate justice

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Ramon Paul Hernando as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court (SC), his top aide said on Wednesday.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go bared this in a Viber message to reporters.

Hernando will take the post vacated by former SC Associate Justice and now Ombudsman Samuel Martires.

He was earlier one of the candidates in the short list to replace SC Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr. who retired last August.

Go said Duterte has also appointed Regional Trial Court judges Evalyn Arellano-Morales and Loida Posadas-Kahulugan as Associate Justices of the Court of Appeals. (Azer Parrocha/PNA)
