ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is preparing its security measures for this year’s observance of All Saints/Souls’ Day or “Undas”.
Supt. Jonathan Pablito, chief of Police Station 1, said in an interview Monday that they have presented their security and traffic plans to the ICPO.
“Right now, we are consolidating who will be there,” Pablito said, adding that they will deploy some 50 volunteers to the city proper district alone to assist the police.
Traffic volunteers will help with the parking of vehicles, as well as foot traffic at the entrance and exit areas of cemeteries.
Pablito noted that they will tap volunteers because some of their personnel will be deployed for the Masskara Festival highlight on October 28.
“Other government agencies will also be doing their part. They will be helping us,” he added.
Pablito also reminded city residents that drinking alcohol, bringing bladed weapons, and playing loud music will be prohibited at the cemeteries.
“Be sensitive to those who are there to remember their departed. If possible, go early and then you can go home early as well,” he told the public.
A police assistance desk will be established at the entrance of every cemetery here, to be manned by at least five police personnel, he said.
