PRO-ARMM to hire 500 new cops; screening going on

COTABATO CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) is currently screening hundreds of police aspirants to fill in the 500 slots for new cops to be assigned in various parts of the region this year.

Senior Insp. Jemar Delos Santos, PRO-ARMM spokesperson, said Wednesday that more than 600 aspirants are presently undergoing final interview and deliberation at their headquarters in Camp Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao.

The applicants are vying for inclusion to the 500 slots made available under the Police Officer 1 (PO1) regular recruitment process.

“We will only hire the best applicants fitted for the job,” he said, adding that aspirants should first pass the physical, medical and neurological examinations required of them.

Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares, PRO-ARMM director, described the recruitment process as fair, considering that names of applicants will be posted on social media networks to further determine the backgrounds of the aspirants.

Mijares said the PRO-ARMM also recently opened its Philippine National Police Online Recruitment Application System or PNP-ORAS to accommodate 200 more police applicants for PO1 positions later this year. (Noel Punzalan/PNA)
