KIDAPAWAN CITY — The city government here has awarded outstanding cooperatives during the culmination of the locality’s Cooperative Month celebration Friday.
Mayor Joseph Evangelista, in a statement released Sunday, said the awarding was one of the highlights of the coop month celebration aimed at giving existing cooperatives in the city’s barangays due recognition for them to strive more and become productive.
The categories were divided into the amount of assets for each cooperative. These are the Micro (PHP3 million below), Small (PHP3 to PHP10 million), Medium (PHP10 million to P100 million), and Large (PHP100 million up).
Conferred were the Cotabato Provincial Government Employees Retirees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (COPGREMCO) for Best Micro Coop; the Kidapawan City National High School Teachers Employees Retirees (KCNHTER) for Best Small Coop; and Kidapawan City Division Office Teachers Retirees Employees MPC (KCDOTREMCO) for Best Medium Cooperative.
Also recognized were the Sta. Catalina MPC as Best Cooperative Branch and Mediatrix Multi-Purpose Cooperative for Best Large Cooperative.
The city government has partnered with 44 registered cooperatives in the City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) in facilitating the livelihood assistance program for identified beneficiaries.
Technical assistance was also extended by the CCDO to cooperatives, such as the preparation of reports to be submitted to the Cooperative Development Authority, financial management training to cooperatives, and served as mediating party for concerns of cooperatives.
During the month-long celebration of Coop Month, tree planting activities were held, coupled with cooperative officers’ forums, and a bloodletting activity.
For North Cotabato, a cooperative congress is also scheduled to be held on Oct. 30 at the provincial gymnasium in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City, for the province’s cooperatives culminating program. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
