MANILA — There was no Filipino victim in the shooting incident in a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that killed 11 on Saturday morning, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Sunday.
In a statement sent through DFA Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato, the agency extended sympathies to the families of the victims.
The DFA also expressed hope for the speedy recovery of the six other individuals reported injured in the incident.
A 46-year-old gunman reportedly opened fire inside the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.
There were no members of the Filipino community among the casualties in the incident, according to the report of Consul General Claro Cristobal of the Philippine Consulate General in New York.
There are around 4,000 members of the Filipino community in Pittsburgh and the rest of Western Pennsylvania. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
