New DOJ spokesman to assume post Monday

MANILA — Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra has designated Undersecretary Mark Perete as their new spokesman effective Monday.

Perete was appointed by Malacañang as DOJ undersecretary last July.

Former Democratic Independent Workers’ Association (DIWA) party-list Rep. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar and lawyer Adrian Sugay were also appointed as Justice undersecretaries last July upon the recommendation of Guevarra.

Lawyar Neal Vincent Bainto was also appointed as DOJ assistant secretary in July at the recommendation of Guevarra.

Perete and the three other officials replaced former DOJ undersecretaries Raymund Mecate, Erickson Balmes, Reynante Orceo, and assistant secretary Juvy Manwong.

Perete graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law in 2006. Prior to his appointment at the DOJ, he served as technical assistant, with the rank of assistant secretary, for legal affairs at the Office of the President. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
