ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Coast Guard has reminded the public here to exercise caution while enjoying the weekend holiday following the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Lt. Commander Noriel Ramos, Zamboanga Coast Guard Station (ZCGS) commander, made the appeal on Friday as residents and tourists are expected to flock to the beaches for family bonding following the observance of “Undas”.

Ramos ordered his personnel to patrol the beaches to ensure the protection of holiday vacationers and picnickers. They were also tasked to remind the public of their safety.

“We need to remind the public, the parents particularly, to watch over their children while having picnic on the beach. We do not want anything to happen to them, especially to the kids,” he said.

He also advised the public to report to concerned authorities if they notice the presence of people acting suspiciously.

He said the deployment of Coast Guard personnel on beaches is part of the security measures they adopted in line with the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

The ZCGS has deployed personnel backed by K9 units at the local port to ensure the safe travel from and to nearby provinces to visit their departed loved ones during “Undas”.

Meanwhile, the ZCGS personnel also continued the conduct of Safety Security and Environment Numbering (SSEN) system on motorboats with three gross tons and below. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr./PNA)
