Preliminary list of candidates to be posted on Nov. 19: Comelec

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced that the tentative list of candidates for the May 2019 midterm polls will be posted on November 19.

In Resolution No. 10441 issued on Oct. 30, the poll body said the preliminary list of candidates will be posted at the Comelec website, www.comelec.gov.ph, and at the offices where the Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) were filed for the “purpose of checking the name to appear on the official ballot.”

“Aspirants are encouraged to check their names to appear on the ballot,” the resolution read.

The list was originally scheduled to be posted on Nov. 5 but was moved to a later date because the filing of COCs was reset from Oct. 1- 5 to October 11-17.

At the same time, the Comelec said that the name to appear on the ballot of substitute candidates who will file their COCs and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONAs) from Nov. 19 to 29, will be posted on November 30.

The poll body also moved the last day to request for a correction on the name appearing on the ballot to Nov. 29 from November 9. It added that no request for correction shall be entertained after this date.

For substitute candidates, they have until Dec. 7 to request a correction on the name to appear on the ballot. It also said it will not entertain requests after that date.

A total of 152 aspirants submitted their COCs for senator while 185 party-list groups filed their CONAs during the five-day filing period at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
