Number of ‘Rosita’-affected families reaches 65K: NDRRMC

MANILA — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced that a total of 65,068 families or 253,298 people were affected by Typhoon Rosita in 1,370 barangays in Regions 1, 2, 3, 8 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

In its 6 a.m. update Sunday signed by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, the agency said only 135 families or 466 persons are still being assisted in 15 evacuation centers.

The NDRRMC also confirmed the deaths of 11 persons in CAR, all in the Mountain Province, along with two injured in Kalinga with one missing in Region 4A (Calabarzon).

Damage houses were placed at 7,881, with 7,039 partially and 842 totally, in Regions 1, 2, 3, 8 and the CAR.

Affected road sections were placed at 98 along with 10 bridges in Regions 2, 3, and the CAR. Of this, 24 road sections and two bridges in Isabela and Kalinga are still impassable.
