Local gov’t donates P3.6-M luggage carts to Zambo airport

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The city government has purchased 200 luggage carts worth PHP3.6 million for the use of inbound and outbound passengers at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Monday led the turnover of the luggage carts to Zamboanga International Airport Manager Antonio Alfonso.

Salazar said the luggage carts, costing PHP18,000 each, are made of aluminum alloy with a 250-kg. capacity each and equipped with automatic rigs.

“This is our contribution to ensure the Zamboanga International Airport will be able to respond to the needs of air passengers in as far as carrying their baggage,” she said.

Last Oct. 22, some 200 luggage carts purchased by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) arrived at the ZIA from Manila.

CAAP purchased the 200 luggage carts following representation and request by 1st District Rep. Celso Lobregat to the CAAP central office and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

The ZIA is the third busiest airport in Mindanao after Davao’s and Cagayan de Oro’s airports. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr./PNA)
