Recidivist pusher yields P1.5-M ‘shabu’ in Tagbilaran drug bust

TAGBILARAN CITY — About PHP 1.5 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” was seized by Tagbilaran City Police in a buy-bust operation Tuesday afternoon from a pusher previously arrested on drug charges.

Tagbilaran City Police Station commander Supt. Patricio Degay Jr. said Moises Abing, 46, was arrested near his home along Gallares Street in Barangay Poblacion II.

Degay said intelligence operatives of the city police spotted Abing selling drugs near his residence, prompting them to conduct the sting operation.

Abing, who was caught red handed selling shabu to an undercover police officer worth PHP500, reportedly tried to escape but was eventually subdued by other policemen near the area.

Recovered from the suspect were several large and small plastic packs of shabu weighing about 127 grams with an estimated street value of PHP1.5 million.

Abing later on claimed the confiscated packs of shabu were not his.

Degay said the suspect was previously arrested in Panglao town in 2016 but was able to post bail.

The suspect is now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against him. ( Dave Albarado/PNA)
