MANILA — The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles has alerted the 25,879 members of the Filipino Community in California following the two large wildfires currently raging in Ventura County.
In a statement sent through Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato on Saturday night, the agency said it is “closely monitoring” the blaze that already claimed nine lives.
According to Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz, the Hill Fire is burning through the canyons along the Camarillo Springs and California State University-Channel Islands, while the fire is near Woolsey Canyon Road.
Cruz said there are no reports so far of Filipinos being affected by the fires that prompted the evacuation of some residents near high-risk areas.
