Davao top cop vows no letup in drug war

By Rhoda Grace Saron – PNA News

DAVAO CITY — Police Regional Office (PRO)-11 director, Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales on Sunday vowed to continue a relentless drive against illegal drugs in the Davao region.

“Despite our intense anti-drug operations there are still hardened users who think they can get away with their pernicious habits,” Morales said.

Morales vowed to continue tracking all those involved in illegal drug activities until they are all arrested and put in prison.

This, after two female alleged drug suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Mati City and provincial police teams on Friday night at Crossing Capitol, Limatoc Street, Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental.

The police operation resulted in the arrest of Maricar Rojas Trimidal, 24 and Genevieve Bastian Duay, 24, both residents of Barangay Central, Mati City.

Morales said Trimidal and Duay were caught red handed selling one sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500 to a police poseur buyer.

Trimidal is a newly identified drug personality engaged in illegal drug activity in their area. Trimidal’s husband, Cristian, was already arrested also for peddling illegal drugs and is currently detained at the Davao Oriental Provincial Jail.

Morales said the two arrested women will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
