MANILA — Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience rains due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said Monday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was spotted 405 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said the LPA will traverse Mindanao’s landmass and may develop into a tropical depression once it reaches the Sulu Sea, which will be given the local name “Samuel”.

Meanwhile, the tail-end of a cold front is affecting southern Luzon.

PAGASA said Bicol Region and Palawan will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm caused by the tail-end of a cold front.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

The rest of the Visayas is going to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by moderate to strong winds from the northeast to northwest with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 23-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 21-31 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 14-25 degrees Celsius; Angeles 23-32 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-32 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-32 degrees Celsius.
