Duterte names OP exec as Bong Go’s replacement

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte named Office of the President (OP) Undersecretary Jesus Melchor Quitain as officer-in-charge of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP).

Quitain has replaced former SAP Christopher “Bong” Go who resigned from his post last month to run for senator in next year’s mid-term elections.

Quitain’s designation was announced through a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Nov. 9 but was released to the media on Monday (Nov. 12).

“In the exigency of service, please be informed that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved your designation as officer-in-charge of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President,” the memorandum read.

Quitain’s appointment will be “effective immediately,” the memorandum said.

Prior to being appointed as Office of the Special Assistant to the President officer-in-charge, Quitain was also former Davao City administrator when Duterte was still mayor.
