MANILA — The names of all party-list organizations and their nominees before the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections (NLE) will be published soon, a Commission on Elections (Comelec) official said Tuesday.

“List of political parties and party-list will be published in newspaper and @COMELEC website soon, with names of party-list nominees,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in her Twitter account, @commrguanzon.

The poll body official, however, did not mention any specific release date of the list.

At the same time, she noted that they decided to reveal the groups and the individuals who will represent them to help voters in choosing on who to vote for in next year’s polls.

“So that the voters would know in advance the party-lists and nominees and can make informed choices on which party-list to vote for,” Guanzon said in an interview on Monday.

On the other hand, a poll watchdog group expressed approval on the decision of the Comelec and asked the public not to waste the opportunity to be given to them in scrutinizing the would-be politicians.

“The public should scrutinize the track record and nominees of party-list groups,” said Kontra Daya convener Danilo Arao in a separate interview.
