PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — Two schools in Palawan recently received the “Brigada Eskwela” best-implementing school awards from the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) region.
Grace Estefano, information officer of the provincial DepEd, said Thursday the awardees were Ipilan National High School (INHS) in Brooke’s Point, southern Palawan; and Magsaysay Elementary School (MES) in Magsaysay island municipality in the north.
Estefano said the two schools are now qualified as nominees in the national level awarding.
“Right now, we are encouraging the schools to always get ready for the opening of classes all the time because that is the objective of Brigada Eskwela. In a way, they will also be able to widen their horizon in terms of exchanging best practices other schools,” she said.
INHS was held as the champion of the DepEd Mimaropa Region 2018 Brigada Eskwela Best School Implementer in the medium category secondary level.
It was also awarded as the champion in Best Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in School (WiNS) Implementing School (secondary level); champion Cleanest & Greenest School (secondary level); first runner-up Best/Creative & Innovative School (secondary level); and second runner-up 2018 Brigada Eskwela Jingle Making Contest.
Estefano said the INHS has been consistently winning awards since 2017 and has the possibility to become a “Hall of Famer” if it will get the same award in 2019.
The MES, on the other hand, ranked as the second placer best school implementer for the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP).
The two schools were awarded during stakeholders’ appreciation program in Tagaytay on Nov. 20.
The regional awardees were selected through a set of criteria to identify best school implementers under different categories.
The nomination for the award started in the district level with 35 districts, including Puerto Princesa.
