MANILA — A staff of a travel and tours company inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with the help of airport authorities, returned a cash pouch that was accidentally dropped by a Korean passenger.

Based on the report of the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), a male Korean passenger arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 last Oct. 31 and accidentally dropped his pouch at the UBE Express counter in the arrival area.

The pouch reportedly contained USD2,056, 31,000 won, 6,020 baht, and PHP20.

Authorities said Judith Mertola, a staff of Lucky Jet Travel & Tours, saw the pouch on Nov. 1. The pouch also contained an airline club visa card and a duty-free card, so they were able to identify the passenger.

Mertola went to the airport’s Lost and Found section.

MIAA IID and the airline’s station manager tried to contact the passenger but failed. Authorities found out that the passenger was scheduled to depart Manila on Monday, Nov. 26.

After checking in for his flight, the passenger was invited to go the MIAA IID office to claim his pouch.

The passenger was surprised to see that the contents of his pouch are complete. He told the officers he did not expect to still get his pouch back.
