DOTr on heightened alert for Christmas season

By PR/PNA

MANILA — Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade on Tuesday directed all sectoral offices and attached agencies of the department to go on heightened alert in preparation for the expected passenger exodus for the Christmas season.

This as the DOTr has started implementing its “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2018” from Dec. 10, 2018 until Jan. 5, 2019.

“Ito ‘ho yung panahong pinakahihintay ng karamihan sa ating mga kababayan, kaya naman nais natin na matulungan silang makarating nang mabilis, komportable at ligtas sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay. Gagawin ko ho, sampu ng mga kawani at ahensya sa ilalim ng DOTr, ang lahat upang maibigay sa kanila ito (This is the season that is being eagerly awaited by most of our countrymen, thus, we want to ensure that they will be able to have a faster, comfortable and safe journey going to their loved ones. I, together with the personnel and agencies under the DOTr, will do everything to provide this for them),” Tugade said in a news release.

Attached agencies of the DOTr will implement 24/7 operations and ensure direct communication lines with its Action Center based on a memorandum issued by Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns Manuel Gonzales.

All booths, counters and other facilities will be adequately manned during operating hours to prevent long queues in public terminals.

Regular updates on “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2018” will be posted on websites and social media accounts of the DOTr and its attached agencies.

Public advisories such as safety tips, common types of violations on expressway documentation requirements and safety regulations at airports, seaports and other transportation facilities will be disseminated.

Tarpaulins containing emergency and hotline numbers will be posted in conspicuous areas within the jurisdiction of DOTr and its attached agencies.
