MANILA — Republic Cement assured that only the highest-quality cement goes into the construction of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) works double-time to complete the crucial elevated expressway this month.

In a statement, Republic Cement said it provides “safe, durable, and greener” cement for the construction of NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10.

Specifically, NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 uses Type 1 high-quality Portland cement known for its optimum durability, and is ideal for high-rise structures, roads, bridges and railways.

It also uses Republic Type 2 cement for areas requiring sulfate-resistant cement.

“We believe that there is a right product for every type of application. Using the latest innovations in construction solutions and green manufacturing practices, we have designed our products to help ensure safer, stronger structures, while reducing environmental impact,” said Republic Cement Chief Executive Officer Nabil Francis.

NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is a 5.65-kilometer elevated expressway connecting NLEX and Port of Manila. This aims to decongest traffic in Metro Manila, particularly providing direct access for trucks using NLEX going to Port of Manila, and from Manila port going to central and northern parts of Luzon.

Francis earlier said in an interview that Republic Cement is taking full advantage of the booming construction sector, as both public and private sectors rush to build critical infrastructure.

“In terms of growth, we are anticipating almost 8 percent growth for this year. It’s higher than last year,” Francis said.

“So, we start to feel the effect of the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program. From day one of the project to cement consumption, it’s always a timeline. We start to feel the pulse of the market beating,” he added.
