PTFoMs executive director Jose Joel M. Sy Egco welcomes participants to the last leg of the regional seminar on Administrative Order No. 1 held at the Iloilo Convention Center in this city on Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2018).

ILOILO CITY — The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) gathered on Wednesday stakeholders from five regions in the country for the last leg of the regional seminar to introduce Administrative Order No. 1 and its operational guidelines at this city’s Iloilo Convention Center (ICC).

“Through this, we were able to show in detail the functions of concerned agencies,” said Undersecretary Jose Joel Sy Egco, who is also PTFoMS Executive Director.

He said at the end of the seminar, they would know what their roles are under the task force.

In his welcome remarks, Egco underscored that the mandate of the task force is to be “very proactive”.

“Meaning, we act on each case even before something bad actually happens. So, at the first sign of trouble, our task force already comes in because what good would our task force be if we are just counting the dead,” he said.

He noted that the task force acts on various kinds of threats and harassment, noting the importance of partnership between the media and the law enforcement agencies.

The PTFoMS is an inter-agency body composed of different law enforcement agencies, Office of the President and, media partners.

The PTFoMS event gathered media practitioners and members of law enforcement agencies from Regions 4-B (Mimaropa), 5 (Bicol Region), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas) and 8 (Eastern Visayas).
