MANILA — Philippine Basketball Association commissioner Willie Marcial slapped Mark Barroca with a hefty fine for his hit on Chris Banchero’s “male part” late in Game 4 of the Governors’ Cup Finals between Magnolia and Alaska.

As announced on Thursday, the Hotshot will pay PHP50,000 as consequence for what appeared to be a closed fist that hit the Ace player’s groin area.

However, Barroca was spared from suspension, making him eligible to play in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, the commissioner also penalized the Aces’ head coach, Alex Compton, for his post-game rant.

After finding Compton’s statements “detrimental to the league,” Marcial handed him a PHP20,000 sanction.

“At what point is that gonna be called?” Compton lamented after seeing the referees not calling a flagrant foul on Barroca for the said action along with what Compton were similar cases like Jio Jalalon allegedly punching another Alaska player and Mike Harris also getting hit right on his private part.
