RP women’s lawn bowls team settled for silver

MALAYSIA—The Philippine women’s lawn bowls team tried to grasp for glory but came out short as they battle it out against the gutsy team from host Malaysia with an 11-to-19 loss in lawn bowls women’s triples event in the ongoing 29th Southeast Asian Games on Thursday, in Bukit Kiara Sports Complex, Malaysia.

The Pinay triplets composed of team captain Rosita Bradborn, Rosalyn Greenless and Hazel Jagonoy were stunned in the 9th end as team Malaysia scattered their 7-point advantage made early in the game.

Although the national squad tried to outplay the opponent, the Malaysian bowlers’ precision, mastery and good form caused the demise of team Philippines.

The game was cut short in the 15th end and was not finished due to the high score gap of the game making it impossible for team Philippines to grasp the gold medal award.

Veteran bowler Rosalyn Greenlees expressed her dismay with the outcome of the game “Na disappoint kami na hindi namin nakuha ang gold medal… yun talaga ang gusto naming makuha,” she said.
