ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan — Some 35 members of the Lucap Fisherfolk Association now have their own fish landing center which was inaugurated on Monday.
City agriculturist Arceli Talania said Tuesday the project worth PHP3 million was funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) while the city government provided for the lot where the facility was constructed.
“The area used to have a dilapidated building and so it was torn down to give way to the community fish landing facility,” Talania said.
She noted the facility will be “very helpful” to the fishermen, as it also has eight units of fish stalls and two units of chest freezer to keep the catch of the fishermen fresh.
“The facility has an office and a multi-purpose hall, so it will serve not just as a fish landing center,” Talania added.
Mayor Arthur Celeste, in his official Facebook page, thanked DA and BFAR for the said project.
“Maraming salamat sa Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) sa isa na namang malaking tulong sa ating lungsod at sa panibago at pangmatagalang regalong magpapabuti sa kabuhayan ng ating mga mangingisda (Thank you very much to DA and BFAR for this project which is another big help to our city. This new and lasting gift will make the livelihood of our fishermen better),” he said.
