COTABATO CITY – Prices of so-called “Noche Buena” items remain unchanged and affordable in North Cotabato, a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) official said Tuesday.

Kenn Wong, consumer protection chief of DTI-North Cotabato, said since October 13, the prices of ‘Noche Buena’ items have not changed, an indication it will remain until the end of the month since prices of fuel continue to go down.

“The DTI is closely monitoring the prices of processed foods like hams, queso de bola, among others at the start of the month but no changes in the suggested retail prices,” Wong said in a local radio interview.

Wong reminded consumers to remain vigilant and make sure to consider the manufacture and expiration dates and price tags of products to buy for the holiday season.

He also urged consumers to report to authorities any unscrupulous traders taking advantage of the holidays by jacking up prices so appropriate action could be taken against them.

Here in Cotabato City, prices of grocery items and other basic commodities have also remained steady.
