N. Cotabato asks taxpayers to avail of tax relief

KIDAPAWAN CITY – With barely a week of working days left this year, the North Cotabato provincial treasurer’s office is hopeful many would still avail of the provincial government’s tax relief.

“Avail of our tax relief. We only have four or five working days, and anybody can beat the deadline,” Provincial Treasurer Manolito Filipinas told taxpayers in an interview Wednesday.

Filipinas said the provincial government’s tax relief is only up to the end of this year, and that taxpayers may still avail of the relief package on December 20, 21, 26 to 28.

Under the tax relief program, delinquent real property taxpayers can settle their obligations with interest and penalties with the treasurer’s office.

The tax relief program, according to Filipinas, was based on Provincial Ordinance No. 600 or “An ordinance granting tax relief to delinquent real property owners in the province of Cotabato with respect to interest, penalties, and surcharges on their real property tax.”

It took effect in January this year and will end on December 31.

Filipinas said those who can beat the deadline this year are also qualified to avail of a 20-percent discount on real property taxes next year.  – With barely a week of working days left this year, the North Cotabato provincial treasurer’s office is hopeful many would still avail of the provincial government’s tax relief.
