LPA, northeast monsoon bring rains over PH Saturday

MANILA — Two weather systems — a low-pressure area (LPA) and the northeast monsoon — will bring rains over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Saturday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the LPA, spotted at 690 km. northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm over the Visayas, Bicol, Caraga, and Mimaropa.

The northeast monsoon affecting Luzon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, Calabarzon and Aurora, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated light rains over the rest of the island.

Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow over northern and central Luzon, the eastern section of southern Luzon and of Visayas. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
