ABAP responds to Marcial’s prep concerns

The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines has insisted that the financial support for Zamboanga-native boxer Eumir Marcial has been continuous.

In a Facebook post, the Olympic-bound boxer claimed that the monthly allowances from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is not enough for his preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.

But in the recent forum of the Philippine Sportswriters Association, ABAP Secretary-General Ed Picson insisted that all of Marcial’s needs are being supplied.

“It’s not true na hindi siya nasusuportahan,” Picson denied.

Picson added that the ABAP also gives a cash incentive to Marcial and other boxers who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.

“Hindi na obligasyon ng ABAP pero binigyan siya,” Picson disclosed.

Marcial is now in Zamboanga with his family before heading for the last part of the Tokyo Games preparations. – Report by Paolo Salamatin/JBB-rir
