BANGUED, Abra — Barangay Malita in this town was recorded by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as the first to transmit results to the National Board of Canvassers during Monday’s mid-term polls in the country.
“I just got a word from our central office, Bangued was the first to transmit result to the national board,” lawyer John Paul Martin, Bangued municipal electoral board of canvassers chairman, said at the opening of the canvassing around 7 p.m.
He said out of the 45 clustered precincts in the whole of Bangued, 38 have already completed transmission. It has 27,080 total voters and a total vote turnout of 23,444.
Martin said Barangay Malita, which has 294 voters, transmitted results at exactly 6:05 p.m.
Based on the initial partial unofficial results from Bangued showed senatorial bets Imee Marcos, Ramon Revilla Jr., Cynthia Villar, Christopher “Bong” Go and Grace Poe came in on top.
For congressman, Joseph Santo Nino Bernos got 17,958 votes; Vicky Corpuz with 2,948; and Derdrei Ifurung with 1,087.
For the gubernatorial race, Jocelyn Bernos led with 17,497 votes, followed by Robert Victor Seares with 5,044.
Ronald Balao-as is leading the vice gubernatorial race with 12,047 votes while Anna Marie Bersamin has 9,485.
For the mayoralty post in Bangued, Dominic Valera is leading with 18,372 votes while his opponent Ryan Luna got 4,047.
Vice mayoral bet Mila Valera led with 14,888 votes followed by Charry Bersamin with 6,190.
Bangued at the start of the polls recorded several incidents including the stone-throwing by supporters and local bets at Barangay Patucannay.
