Adamson confirms death of missing student

The Adamson University (AdU) confirmed on Tuesday, Feb. 28, the death of one of its students who reportedly went missing.

In a statement, AdU announced the “untimely” passing of John Matthew Salilig, 24, on Feb. 18, the day he was first reported missing.

The university mourned the loss of Salilig and offered condolences to his loved ones.

“We are one with his family and friends in grieving this unexpected and unfortunate loss,” it statement read.

“We strongly urge the community to refrain from sharing unverified information and to help us pray for the student’s bereft family during this difficult time,” the statement further read.

Salilig was a chemical engineering student. He was last seen at Jac Liner Bus Terminal in Buendia, Manila around 10:26 a.m.

AdU said it also conducted its own investigation and already cooperated with the authorities on the incident.

It also urged its students to “be mindful and vigilant of their activities” inside and outside the campus.
