The members of the administration’s economic team thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for allowing them to keep their posts as the Cabinet undergoes reset, renewing their commitment to achieving an inclusive and sustainable Bagong Pilipinas through economic transformation.

After the President called for his Cabinet to submit courtesy resignations on May 22, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced in a press briefing Friday that he, alongside Secretary Amenah Pangandaman (Department of Budget and Management), Secretary Cristina Roque (Department of Trade and Industry), Secretary Ralph Recto (Department of Finance), Arsenio Balisacan (Department of Economy, Planning, and Development), and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go retained their positions.

Bersamin emphasized that Marcos rejected the resignations of his economic managers as they play key roles in driving economic recovery and growth in the country.

In a statement, Pangandaman stressed that the “unexpected boost of confidence” from Marcos reaffirmed her commitment to public service and reignited her determination to improve her work to fulfill the needs and aspirations of Filipinos.

“I am tremendously grateful to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the steadfast trust, support, and confidence he has bestowed not only upon me but upon the entire economic team,” the Budget chief said.

“Certainly, the entire economic team is one in reinforcing our shared vision for an even more prosperous economy.”

Balisacan also assured the Chief Executive that his department and the economic team will continue its efforts “to steer the economy to a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future where every Filipino benefits from our nation’s progress.”

Recto, shared that his department will also undergo recalibration as Marcos’ vote of confidence motivates them to “push harder and deliver results faster.”

“Gaya po ng pahayag ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, hindi kami titigil sa DOF na siguraduhin na nararamdaman ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino ang progreso.”

Likewise, Roque reiterated her full commitment to “forging a Bagong Pilipinas, characterized by progress and prosperity” through collaboration with other concerned agencies.

“I am honored and humbled by the continued trust and confidence of His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., has placed in me in my current capacity as DTI Secretary. I am grateful for the empowerment to further contribute to our country’s progress.” (with report from Denisse Osorio / PTV News)
