“The entire AFP, along with all the men and women of the uniformed services and all our civilian personnel stand by the constitutionally mandated government and unequivocally supports the Commander-in-Chief.”
So said Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla as they expressed and assured their loyalty to President Rodrigo Duterte after a group of alleged affiliates of AFP and Philippines National Police (PNP) released a statement to expel the president.
AFP denied Patriotic and Democratic Movement (PADEM) statement on expelling the president because of his “betrayal of public trust.”
“The AFP categorically denies the recent statement issued by a group that pretends to be representative of the men and women of the AFP and the PNP and called themselves the Patriotic and Democratic Movement (PADEM),” Padilla added.
Furthermore, the Department of Justice (DOJ) responded to the issue and AFP will not hesitate to penalize whoever acted against the constitution.
On the other hand, the AFP also appealed to the public and various political groups for respect and unity. | Angelica Bobiles – PTV
