AFP to name 10 schools in ‘Red October’ plot in proper time

MANILA — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said it will reveal at the proper time the 10 schools in Metro Manila where the recruitment for the so-called “Red October” ouster plot is ongoing.

This, according to AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo in a message to reporters Wednesday.

“(I) am not at liberty as of now to name the schools where (the) CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines) is doing recruitment. The AFP committed to reveal other details of the plot in the opportune time and appropriate venue,” Arevalo said.

During Tuesday’s Senate budget hearing for the Department of National Defense, AFP chief-of-staff Gen. Carlito Galvez, Jr., said the CPP has already organized 10 schools in the metropolis for its “Red October” ouster plot which aims to depose the government through armed and legal struggle.

Galvez added that part of the communist plot to oust Duterte is to undertake a series of mobilization to heighten up agitation in the student and labor sectors including the indigenous people.

He said the plan is to have successive mass mobilizations starting on September 21 up to December when the CPP-New People’s Army (NPA) celebrates its 50th anniversary. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
