AFP to provide support to community pantries

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will support the community pantry initiative in various parts of the country with the aim of providing aid to those who need it.

According to AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, the organization supports all humanitarian efforts especially amid the Covid-19 crisis. He gave a directive to the Civil Military Operations Unit to assist the community pantries and convince soldiers to donate their subsistence allowance for one day to help the initiative.

The AFP chief said they will prioritize the areas under lockdown.

The Palace, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have welcomed the community pantry initiative of the Filipinos as it exemplifies the bayanihan spirit amid this time of crisis.
