Albayalde launches social media campaign to promote cops’ good acts

MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday spearheaded the launching of a social media campaign seeking to highlight the good deeds of police officers.

The project, known as One Commendable Act (OCA), was launched at the Police Regional Office 3 in Camp Olivas, Pampanga and will document good deeds by policemen in the region.

Albayalde, who has been the subject of a social media smear campaign run by junior police non-commissioned officers, reiterated he welcomes criticism but will not tolerate insubordination and disrespect to officers.

“They can oppose as long as they don’t slander and are not disrespectful of commanders on the ground because we need to follow rules and regulations. It is stated in the Constitution, it is in the law,” Albayalde said.

“If the bashers cannot understand such policy, our policemen on the ground have to understand this. Otherwise, they have to go out of the service,” he added.

Albayalde cited the case of three off-duty Caloocan sibling-policemen, who were caught on video armed and confronting their neighbor over a traffic altercation.

“They should not have acted with hate and emotion and just let it be. This is what we are saying. If you are in public service, you must be more patient,” Albayalde said. (PNA)
