Alert levels for December out, nearly all areas under level 2

The government announced on Monday (Nov. 30) the latest alert classifications nationwide and assured that authorities continue to monitor developments regarding the Omicron variant.

Based on the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 151-C, the National Capital Region (NCR) will remain under Alert Level 2 from Dec. 1 to 15.

All other areas will be covered by Alert Level 2, except for the province of Apayao which will be under Alert Level 3 from Dec. 1 to 15.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in the Nov. 30 Laging Handa briefing that Metro Manila met the parameters set for placing areas under Alert Level 2.

“Ang tinitignan natin diyan ay siyempre iyong average daily attack rate ng lugar. Tinitignan din natin diyan iyong two-week growth rate and, of course, iyong health care utilization,” he said.

Nograles said they are still finalizing the parameters for Alert Level 1. There are currently no areas under the most relaxed classification.

“Sa ngayon, mayroon pa kaming tini-tweak at ipina-finalize na mga parameters. Right now, hindi tayo handa na mag declare ng any Alert Level 1,” he said.

The official said the government has gatherings guidelines for each alert level amid plans of possible holiday parties and celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Palace expressed optimism that the country will meet its economic targets despite the impact of the pandemic if improvements on COVID-19 figures are sustained. – Report from Mela Lesmoras/AG- bny
